Sports & Athletics

Sports have become more than a way to pass the time, they have become an essential part of our community, identity, and educational system. As the competition level has increased over the years so have the needs of the facilities to hold these events. Over the last decade we have seen a large increase in the demand for Indoor Practice Facilities particularly in places such as Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. These areas are known for their love of high school football but also the extreme heat during summer practices. Athletic Directors, coaches and trainers understand that by providing an indoor practice space they are able to reduce safety concerns while increasing the amount of quality practice time. These same facilities can have the ability to mechanically lower nets to section off areas of the synthetic turf fields for other sports such soccer, golf, or track and field activities. While not in use by the football team an indoor practice facility makes an ideal place for the marching band to practice on.
Sports such as baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball have become year round activities with many athletes training with travel ball or club organizations. This has led to a need for multi-purpose athletic buildings. Metal buildings make a great solutions for these type of sports facilities due to the ability to reach clear spans of up to 300’. These facilities can be designed to with the needed point loads and bracing to have multiple netting dividers, suspended retractable backboards and scoreboards. This gives tournament directors the opportunity to house bigger events by being able to play multiple games at the same time, in a constant environment, all year long.
As metal building athletic facilities have gained in popularity so have the many different architectural features. The different wall systems that can be designed include metal panels, brick, CMU, Stucco and insulated metal panels. Red Dot indoor practice facilities have reached an interior ceiling height of 50 feet with spans well over 200’ wide. We have provided mezzanines, elevated film platforms, observations platform, along with structural buildings for weight rooms, training rooms and offices. Red Dot engineers have designed such unique features as radius standing seam roofs, Megadoors, translucent wall lights, Jomy custom counter balanced stairs, large fans, and mechanical louvers.
