Project Technical Manager

​

Position: Project Technical Manager (PTM)

 

Job Description:

 

The Project Technical Manager (PTM) is responsible for working with Red Dot construction managers and customers to diagnose and rectify technical issues as they occur.  This position works closely with all internal departments to convey the problems and solicit advice and direction to resolve the issues in an expedient manner.  The PTM serves a vital role in improving quality control efforts within Red Dot by collecting and recording data, identifying trends through objective and subjective analysis, and presenting data in a manner that can be used to improve upon the performance of every department. 

 

 

Job Requirements:

 

Education / Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in an applied science related to engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field, or,

  • Associates Degree or Trade School Degree in a program related to design and drafting, engineering, construction management, or related field, along with (2) years of professional experience in related field, or,

  • High School Diploma with (4) years-experience in the Pre-engineered Metal Building field with direct involvement in construction, design, detailing, or any other technical role.

 

Skills

  • Ability to read architectural drawings

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) or equivalent

  • Proficient with Bluebeam Revu

  • Professional written/verbal communication

  • Ability to perform root cause analysis

  • High attention to detail

Daily Tasks (include but not limited to)

  • Track and maintain Problem Report status

  • Read and diagnose Problem Report requests from project construction sites

  • Collaborate with engineers, purchasers, construction, and manufacturing departments to find root causes and provide solutions

  • Find the fastest and most cost-efficient solution to a reported problem

  • Collect data for identifying trends

  • Work with the Project Scheduling Managers to provide excellent service to our customers

  • Create material shippers for procurement and fabrication of material to get to the job site as needed

CWI / Quality Manager

​

Essential Functions:

 

  • Ensuring quality of personnel, material, and processes throughout the manufacturing process.

 

  • Responsible for training and testing of new employees.

 

  • Creating new WPSs and PQRs for all steel fabrication.

 

  • Responsible for all fabrication equipment and tool calibrations.

 

  • Ensure qualification of welders and assure continuity of welder qualifications as required by AWS, AISC and IAS.

 

  • Communicate training programs to assist in the understanding of the needed steps to promote safety and efficiency in the manufacturing process.

 

  • Maintain IAS and AISC annual certifications through review and updates of departmental procedures.

 

  • Ensuring that production staff is following OSHA and IAS guidelines for the manufacturing plant.

 

  • Periodically assist in onsite job resolution to help identify and resolve construction issues.

 

  • Assist in sustaining a preventative maintenance program that helps to promote proper equipment operation, reduce repair costs and less down time.

 

  • Coordinates and participates in filling out the performance reviews on all employees listed as a direct report.

 

  • Ensure visual inspection training of structural weldments and cold-formed products requiring welding.

 

  • Ensure proper identification and inspection of incoming raw materials in compliance with the quality plans and specifications.

 

  • Ensure and document traceability of final assembly to incoming materials, QA records, and individual welders.

 

  • Ensure applicable fabrication tolerances are met for weldments and cold-formed products.

Job Specifications:

Experience and Education

  • High School Education

  • Six (6) years or more of related professional work experience in metal buildings or a steel manufacturing plant.

  • Current CWI certification

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Demonstrated proficiency with use of PC and associated systems

  • Good communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
